Plan my trip
Helicopter tours that land — Everest Base Camp, Kalapatthar and Kailash.
A heli tour lands. That is the whole difference between this and a mountain flight, where the aircraft turns around without touching the ground, and it is the difference that decides which one you want.
Landing means you stand on it. Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar in a morning, with breakfast at Hotel Everest View and back in Kathmandu before lunch — a walk that takes twelve days each way, done in about four hours. Annapurna Base Camp, Langtang and Muktinath are flown the same way.
Two kinds of traveller book these, and for opposite reasons. People with four days rather than fourteen, and people who cannot walk at altitude — a knee, a heart condition, an age, a parent who wants to see Everest and is never going to trek to it. The second group is why we keep the route.
Altitude is still altitude even when you have not walked to it. Landings above 5,000 metres are short and deliberately so, and anyone with a cardiac or respiratory condition should say so before booking rather than at the helipad.
The Kailash yatra has a helicopter routing for pilgrims who cannot manage the road crossing.
Every trip here is customisable. Tell us the days you have and we will tell you what fits.
