Questions we get asked
Booking
How do I book a trip?
Send an enquiry from any trip page, or message us on WhatsApp. We reply with availability and a written quotation, and confirm once a deposit is paid. Nothing is charged through this website.
How much deposit do you need?
Usually 25% to confirm a fixed departure, with the balance due before you travel. For restricted-area permits like Upper Mustang or Kailash we need the full permit cost earlier, because the government requires it in advance.
Can I change the dates after booking?
Yes. Tell us as early as you can and we will move you to another departure at no charge where the permits allow it.
Payment
Which currencies can I pay in?
Nepali rupees, Indian rupees and US dollars. Our published prices for each market are shown on every trip page.
Trekking
Do I need a guide to trek in Nepal?
For most trekking regions a licensed guide is now required, and for restricted areas such as Upper Mustang and Manaslu it always has been. A guide is included in all our trekking packages.
What about altitude sickness?
Our itineraries are built to gain height gradually and our guides monitor the group daily with a pulse oximeter. If somebody is not acclimatising, the plan changes. Insurance that covers helicopter evacuation is strongly recommended, and we can arrange it.
What should I pack?
Broken-in boots, layers, a warm jacket, a hat and sun cream, a headtorch and a personal first-aid kit. We send a full list once you book, and most items can be bought or hired in Thamel or Pokhara.
Visa
Do you handle visas?
We prepare and check tourist visa applications for Hong Kong, Europe and much of Asia, and we arrange the Chinese group visa and Tibet permit for the Kailash yatra.
