A retreat is a journey you make to arrive somewhere in yourself, and we run two kinds. One follows a calendar of holy days to a specific place. The other has no destination to speak of and is built around stopping.

**Pilgrimage.** Kailash and Manasarovar is the journey most people mean. Mount Kailash is sacred to Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bon, and the parikrama around it crosses the Dolma La at over 5,600 metres. Our departures are aligned to the full moon, with road and helicopter routes depending on how many days you have and how well you handle altitude. Muktinath sits at 3,710 metres in Mustang and is holy to Hindus and Buddhists both — the hundred and eight water spouts, and the flame that burns on water. Narsing Dham is closer to home and can be done in a day.

These are not sightseeing tours with a temple in them. The timing follows the calendar rather than the weather, the food is vegetarian throughout, and the day is built around the darshan. We arrange the permits, the Tibet group visa where it applies, the priests where they are needed, and the acclimatisation days a high pilgrimage requires.

**Wellness.** Yoga, meditation and sound healing with singing bowls, which is a Nepali practice rather than an imported one. Quiet accommodation outside the city, a teacher for the sessions you want, vegetarian food, and no daily distance to cover. Pokhara and the Kathmandu valley rim both work; so does Bandipur for a short stay. These are built one at a time — tell us the length you have and the size of the group.
