Trips in Tibet

The Kailash and Manasarovar circuit across the Tibetan plateau, by road or by helicopter.

Everything we run in Tibet is the Kailash and Manasarovar circuit. It begins in Kathmandu, crosses at Kerung and follows the plateau through Saga to Lake Manasarovar and Darchen, from where the parikrama makes its 5,630 m crossing of the Dolma La.

Two things are worth understanding before you commit. Nothing on the itinerary after Kerung is below 3,600 m, which is why the schedule spends days at the lake rather than pressing on. And it is a religious circuit rather than a trek, walked by pilgrims of four faiths, so the days are shaped by the ritual rather than by distance.

Access is seasonal and absolute. The road window is roughly June to September; outside it the passes are closed. Group size runs from four to thirty, and permits are arranged with the departure rather than by the traveller.
