A Newari hill town, two hours off the highway
The Bandipur Weekend is a 1-night, 2-day tour from Kathmandu or Pokhara to Bandipur, a preserved Newari hill town in Tanahun district, Nepal. It costs NPR 6,500 per person and includes transport, accommodation and sightseeing. The itinerary covers Tani Mai Temple, Siddha Cave — the largest cave in Nepal — the Mini Great Wall viewpoint, the Bandipur bazaar, and sunrise over the Himalaya.
Bandipur is a Newari trading town that the highway forgot. When the road to Pokhara was built along the valley floor in the 1970s the traffic left, and the bazaar on the ridge above stayed exactly as it was — slate roofs, carved windows, and a main street with no cars on it.
It is a two-day trip because that is all it needs. You arrive in the afternoon, walk the bazaar, climb to Tani Mai for sunset, and get up early for the mountains.
| Day | Where | Altitude | Walking |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Kathmandu to Bandipur | 1,030 m | 5 hrs |
| 2 | Siddha Cave, Mini Great Wall and return | 1,030 m | 6 hrs |

Drive to Bandipur, check in, and walk the bazaar. Climb to Tani Mai Temple for sunset over the Marsyangdi valley.

Early start for sunrise on the Himalaya, then down to Siddha Cave and along the Mini Great Wall before driving back.
Every day here can move. Tell us how many days you have, who is coming and what you want to see, and we will rewrite this itinerary around it — same guides, same published pricing.
We publish reviews as they are written, and only from travellers we have actually taken. Yours would be the first for this one.
