Tours in Thailand

Tours are the trips where you travel by vehicle rather than on foot: the guide, the driver and the itinerary are ours, and the walking is optional.

Most begin in the Kathmandu valley — Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhu and the durbar squares of Patan and Bhaktapur, which are three separate cities of temples rather than one attraction repeated. West of there the hill country opens up. Bandipur is a preserved Newari bazaar town with the Himalaya on the skyline, close enough to Kathmandu or Pokhara for a weekend. Gorkha is where the unification of Nepal began, and the durbar still looks down the valley it was launched from.

North of Pokhara the landscape changes completely: Upper Mustang and Muktinath sit in the rain shadow behind the Annapurnas, high and dry and Tibetan in architecture, reachable now by road rather than only on foot.
